Professor Charles J. Werth had been chosen as one of 49 of the nation's brightest young engineering researchers and educators with his selection to take part in the National Academy of Engineering's first Frontiers of Engineering Education symposium.

Changyong Zhang, Ph.D., recently accepted a job offer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a research scientist. Dr. Zhang was a Ph.D. student with Professor Werth, and graduated in 2006. The title of his Ph.D. thesis is “Impacts Of Source Zone Architecture On Nonaqueous Phase Liquid Dissolution And Cleanup: A Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study.”. After graduating, Dr. Zhang worked for an environmental engineering consulting company for one year before coming back to work with Professor Werth as a post-doctoral researcher. He expects to start his new position in October of 2009.

Brian Chaplin, Ph.D., recently accepted a job offer as an Assistant Professor at Villanova University. Dr. Chaplin was a Ph.D. student with Professor Werth, and graduated in 2007. The title of his Ph.D. thesis is “Mechanistic Study of Fouling and Regeneration of Palladium-Based Bimetallic Catalysts Used for the Removal of Pollutants from Drinking Water”. Since graduating, Dr. Chaplin has worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Arizona. He expects to start his new position in August of 2010.
